- What is Brontanax?
- Brontanax is the working name for BAE Systems' UK-designed Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), unveiled at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026. It is being developed as a 'loyal wingman' drone that will team with crewed fighters such as the Typhoon and, in the 2030s, the GCAP Tempest.
- Is this an official BAE Systems or Ministry of Defence website?
- No. brontanax.com is an independent open-source tracker. It is not affiliated with BAE Systems plc, the UK Ministry of Defence, or any government programme office. Information is sourced from publicly available press reporting, official statements, and industry analysis.
- What is a Collaborative Combat Aircraft?
- A Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) is an uncrewed aircraft designed to fly alongside a crewed fighter. It can carry sensors, electronic-warfare equipment, or weapons, allowing the manned aircraft to focus on command and decision-making while the drone handles tasks such as scouting, jamming, or absorbing risk.
- When will Brontanax enter service?
- No in-service date has been confirmed publicly. The StormFighter programme, which will field Brontanax, is at an early concept and risk-reduction phase following the earlier cancellation of Project Mosquito. Follow the Intelligence log for updates as the programme timeline becomes clearer.
- How is this site funded?
- brontanax.com is a self-funded independent project. It is supported by a small BX merchandise collection and a free email briefing. The shop is kept deliberately separate from the main content so it does not distract from the programme tracker.
- How can I receive the daily brief?
- Subscribe on the Intelligence page. You can choose daily, twice-weekly, or weekly emails. The first message is a one-time confirmation, and every briefing includes a simple unsubscribe link.
- Can I use official Brontanax photos from this site?

- Where does the information come from?
